Journey About to Begin...

So, I have officially made it to the east coast. In all honesty, I flew on a red eye from San Francisco to Washington DC on Wednesday night (okay, more like Thursday morning), and I have been working remotely for the past two days. Somehow, I feel like I am cheating, being at Rachel's house while she is at work, and telecommuting from her couch. Not that I am complaining mind you.

After my red eye on Thursday, I arrived into IAD around 10 am. Just in time for a conference call... that I didn't end up getting on. After being at airports/on airplanes for 12 hours, the last thing you want to do the second you get off that plane is get on a conference call. Somebody will tell me the highlights. At least I hope so... made it to Rachel's, she had already been at work for several hours, so I jumped on a Super Shuttle and finally made it up to Bethesda.

After a while, I became restless and decided to hop onto the Metro to travel into the District. Using my Yelp app, I found a Starbucks that would fit my needs perfectly. Ordered an ice tea and grabbed a sandwich from the grab and go. Sat down and fired up the old Thinkpad.

Wait... is that what I think it is... Yes, they were playing the old college favorite, Legend by Bob Marley. Which, I have to admit in my own college days I found really cool, but I don't think that CD (yes, CD, I don't think Marley has made his way onto my iPhone)has seen the light of day since... well, college. The first college (Sonoma State) to all of my friends paying attention out there.

As I continued to work, I realized that they kept playing this song over and over. I am really starting to think that Exodus is going to be my theme song for the weekend. Or, I need to go find a dorm party to crash. I really can't decide which at this point.

Well, by 4 pm, I was exhausted. I can't confirm having a contact high from just listening to Bob Marley for 4 hours, but I guess we can't rule it out as a possibility. I ventured back on the Metro to Maryland. Which, it sort of astonishes me how in no matter what city you are in (SF, Chicago, DC, LA...) everybody has the same look on their face and their white iPod headphones in their ears as to say, "I don't want human contact. Just let me get home." It's like when I pretend to be texting or reading an email when I see somebody wanting to talk to me about some ballot initiative they want to pass, but I really don't want to hear about. I just want to go to sleep...

I digress. Anyways, I made it back to the train station in one piece and then it became obvious that if I didn't get back to the apartment as soon as possible, Rachel was going to find me asleep on the brick walkway from her apartment to the train station. So, when I got back I collapsed for 2 hours until Rachel got home from work.

We had dinner at a staple for us, the Silver Diner, and then came home to watch the Giants game... or at least snippets of it on MLB Network. I so miss my home team, and I am really looking forward to seeing them in Philadelphia. The game went into extra innings. Yes, I stayed up until 2 am for the second day in a row. Minus the naps. I love Aubrey Huff, but dude, you are killing my sleep cycle.

Starting on Monday we begin our journey... Pirates, Mets, Yankees, Cooperstown, Red Sox, Phillies, Nationals... it's going to be crazy and exciting. I am hoping I can update a blog, since I have a lot of friends asking about it. Not that I won't post on Facebook... I mean do I breath. My inner bay area tech nerd is not going anywhere. That is for sure.

Tomorrow, I am off to Delaware for some family time. Hopefully will have something interesting to share from my birth state... until then...
